BMJ Informatica's fucked up useless code
BMJ Informatica call themselves a "market leading clinical improvement software systems provider". If these morons are the market leaders, I dread to think how fuck awful the other providers of such systems are.
Today I tried to order a repeat prescription via my doctor's website. They have just installed a new system for this, provided by BMJ Informatica, apparently as a result of some NHS policy decision. And, as I discovered, it does not fucking work. Why? Because BMJ Informatica not only can't fucking code for toffee, they can't even be arsed to carry out the most basic tests on their code. There are BITS MISSING, for fuck's sake; how the fuck could they possibly not know that if they had tested it?
Look at the fucking mess they coughed up (see right). How much is wrong with it? For a start, I am on a number of different medications. This web page should be offering me the chance to order a repeat prescription of any of them. It doesn't. It's only got one. This is no fucking good.
And I can't even order that one. There is supposed to be a checkbox associated with it for me to check to say I want it - reading the javascript (at the bottom) makes this obvious. But it isn't fucking there.
Even if it was there it wouldn't work because the "list" of medications is in the wrong fucking place. It should be inside the <FORM> element so that the checkbox (if it existed) would be included in the data sent by submitting the form. It isn't. Submitting that form sends the "optional comments" box and nothing else.
Also within the form should be a dropdown list of local pharmacies for me to indicate where I want to collect the prescription from. This is fucking missing too. The javascript refers to it, but it does not appear on the actual page.
So the whole thing is a useless fucking wreck with vital components missing and others in the wrong place so they won't actually do anything. What sort of fucking bollocks is this? How the fuck do BMJ Informatica manage to deploy a system that so fucking obviously does not work? How the fuck do they not notice that half the elements the page needs are not fucking there?
There can only be one possible answer: they have not bothered to fucking test their code. At all. Not even at the most basic level. They cannot have even done the simplest thing of checking that it even displays that page, because if they had they would have seen straight away that it was fucked and useless.
Nevertheless this utter shite has been installed on my doctor's surgery's website because BMJ Informatica have evidently given the NHS reason to believe that it does work. Or in other words, they have lied. Implicitly or explicitly, makes no odds; one way or another BMJ Informatica have induced the NHS to believe that they are supplying a working and usable system when the truth is that it does not fucking work and cannot fucking work because BMJ Informatica have not bothered to put in all the stuff it needs to make it work.
And what this means, of course, is that BMJ Informatica are a bunch of fucking scammers and con artists who have ripped off the NHS.
Or to put it more briefly, BMJ Informatica are dishonest verminous scum.
What BMJ Informatica have done goes well beyond simple incompetence - which itself would be bad enough. The incompetence is so fucking blatant that they obviously just don't give a shit. They have just thrown some code together with a complete lack of care or diligence and then not even bothered to look at the output it produces.
Fucksake this is MEDICAL SHIT we're dealing with here. If the frontend is such a useless piece of untested shit, what the fuck is the backend like? Even worse, no doubt, since it is hidden away and not so immediately obvious when it goes wrong. What assurance do we have that it isn't going to, for example, submit a request for the wrong dose of some medicine with a narrow and patient-dependent therapeutic margin? Absolutely fuck all. And what happens when it does that? Someone is FUCKING DEAD. All because BMJ Informatica can't be fucking arsed. There is a phrase for that, and it is "criminal negligence".
Do they give a toss? Do they arse. This afternoon I have sent them several tweets accompanied by the above image making public their utter incompetence. Their response? Nil. Which proves my point: their software is fucking shite and they do not care.
Similarly we have no assurance whatsoever that online access to patient medical records, which is also mediated via part of the same web package from BMJ Informatica, has been competently written or tested. So the security of medical records is at risk. Do you want your medical privacy to be dependent on a company which can't fucking code for toffee and doesn't give a shit? Because I don't.
And I sure as FUCK do NOT want any of BMJ Informatica's shite fucking bollock-arsed dysfunctional untested garbage involved in DIAGNOSIS. Fuck's SAKE. I am currently looking at a Google snippet which says that "a new tool to improve early cancer diagnosis", written by BMJ Informatica, will be installed in "many GP surgery [sic] over the coming months". Well they can FUCK RIGHT OFF with that. I do NOT want to be at risk of a missed diagnosis for fucking cancer because it depends on fucking software provided by a bunch of dishonest scamming fucks who don't give a rat's ass about even bleeding obvious things that don't work. What chance does anyone ever have of proving that such a missed diagnosis was caused by BMJ Informatica's shit software? Fuck all. So the chance of it working properly and being tested properly is nonexistent. They can't even be arsed to load up a web page to see if it is all there, so there is no fucking way they are going to be arsed to test something whose faults are only going to become apparent several years after the fact and can't be tied to them even when they do.
DOCTORS: If you have ANY software from BMJ Informatica in your surgeries at all, GET RID OF IT RIGHT NOW.
NHS: DO NOT pay BMJ Informatica for this fucking bollocks. If you have paid already, sue their incompetent irresponsible fucking arse off. In fact do that anyway and put the fucking cunts out of business.
BMJ INFORMATICA: Wipe all your hard disks, delete all your backups, instruct every poor sucker you've ripped off with your fucking shite to uninstall it immediately, and then tie a breeze block to your feet and jump in a fucking lake. You are not only incompetent dishonest scum, you are incompetent dishonest scum fucking with people's medical information and thereby putting their lives at risk, so do the decent thing and end your own fucking lives because the world is much better off without people like you.
(And to anyone who says anything like "these are rather sweeping conclusions to draw from just one non-working web page" - you can fuck off too. The level not only of incompetence but of not even fucking caring about incompetence BMJ Informatica have displayed in such a public manner is so fucking outrageous it makes their attitude and untrustworthiness very clear indeed and so justifies such conclusions.)
